Welcome to Living Water! We are so grateful and excited that you are interested in what God is doing on the mountain. We want you to feel welcomed and informed, so we have compiled a list of questions that we get frequently. We’ve done this to help you better understand who we are, and what to expect when you visit one of our worship celebrations!
FAQs
Why are some people dancing, some sitting, and some painting?
We believe in freedom of worship within Biblical parameters. If you want to express your heart to the Lord through dance (2 Samuel 6:14-15) or art, then you are free to do so. If you simply want to sit still and think about God and His goodness (Psalm 46:10), then you are also free to do so. We don’t believe in putting any boundaries on worship that God Himself did not set. We believe worship is more about the posture of your heart than an outward expression.
Why do some people say that they heard a word from the Lord?
Jesus said that His sheep know His voice (John 10:4). We believe that it is weirder for a Father to not speak to His children. Of course, God will never contradict Himself, so whatever is said should always be weighed against scripture by other believers. We believe in creating an atmosphere where believers are empowered to hear God’s voice through intimacy with Him, and have the freedom to step out in faith.
What should I wear?
Be comfortable. Come as you are. We believe that God looks at the heart, and is not impressed by our outward appearance. If you want to wear a tie, then by all means, snazz it up! If you’re more comfortable in jeans and a tee, then you’re welcome here too!
Why are people laying hands on other people?
We believe in allowing the Holy Spirit to do whatever He likes. Sometimes that results in times of healing and prayer. The Bible clearly supports the laying on of hands as an impartation during prayer (2 Timothy 1:6). We believe that God most often moves through other believers, and we want to cooperate with Him in seeing lives changed for the His glory. We don’t want you to feel pressured to participate, but if God leads you to pray for someone, then you are free to do so.
What’s with all the loud music and lights? Is it all just a show?
It is a show, a show of how great and creative our God is, and it is a show FOR Him, not to impress people. We like to worship God openly and passionately! We believe in creativity, energy, and excellence in music! We believe that the church should be on the cutting edge of creative media, because God is the source of all creativity! God also created color and light, and we want our light technicians to be free to worship God creatively as well. Our stage is their canvas, and the lights are their paint. We believe in holding nothing back in the worship of our God!
Do you have a children’s ministry?
Yes! We believe in equipping the next generation to be world-changing, passionate lovers of Jesus! For more information on our children’s ministry, visit our Children’s Ministry Page
If I go to your 10:30am Worship Celebration, will I miss lunch?
We believe in allowing the Holy Spirit to direct a service as He wills, but we also respect people’s time. We do our best to end the service by 12:00pm, but sometimes ministry times do run over. If you need to leave before the service is over, then you are free to leave. You are not being rude!
